Safaricom Set to Introduce Unlimited Monthly Package

Safaricom is planning to introduce a bundled offer to its customers which will include data, voice and SMS bundles by next month.

This plan will offer a five price point ranging from Sh1000 to Sh10,000.

The Sh1000 plan will have 5GBs of data, 400 minutes and unlimited SMS while their higher bouquet will offer unlimited data, voice and SMS.

This move comes at a time when its markets shares continue to decline while that of Airtel, its competitor grows in their advantage.

According to the Communications Authority of Kenya, Safaricom’s share of mobile subscribers has been on the decline, in the year ended June 2019, the Telco’s subscriber number fell to 63.5% from 65.4% the previous year, making it the lowest market share it has recorded in the last decade.

Airtel who have been gaining subscriber’s as it already has a similar plan which offers unlimited packages for daily, weekly and monthly plans. Its monthly plan includes a provision of 20GBs of data, 1,200 minutes and 10,000 SMS for Sh2,000 and 8GBs of data, 400 minutes and 2,000 SMS for Sh1,000.
