Thibaud Rerolle to exit as Safaricom’s CTO in July

Thibaud Rerolle, Safaricom’s Chief Technology Officer, is set to leave the Kenyan telecommunication giant for a similar role at Vodafone Turkey. He is set to leave at the end of July 2019 according to an announcement made by Safaricom chief executive officer Bob Collymore.

Prior to joining Safaricom in December 2011, Thibaud worked with France Telecom where he gained 17 years experience in technical matters gained from the company in Europe, South America, Africa and the Caribbean. he served in Safaricom for 7 and a half years.

Thibaud has been responsible for leading Technology to deliver a digital network and connected services to ensure a superior customer experience (in charge of Network Planning & Design, Enterprise Technology, Digital IT, Converged Services and Home Solutions) at Safaricom, a role he has held for  7 years and y months. Some of his remarkable achievements include “leading the cross-functional team responsible for the relocation of our servers from Germany, bringing M-Pesa home in April 2015” says the Safaricom’s  CEO, Bob Collymore in a staff memo. The CEO also hailed Thibaud for his role in the launch of the most successful overdraft facility dubbed “Fuliza”.

“The relocation gave us better control of the platform and freedom to innovate around our customers’ needs, translating into the launch of revolutionary products such as M-Pesa Global and Fuliza…, Over the last four years Thibaud has sponsored and volunteered as the Technology Division’s 47-in-1 team captain, guiding a team of over 500 members of staff passionate about delivering education through technology in each of Kenya’s 47 counties,” said the CEO.

Thibaud, according to his LinkedIn profile, has 25 years international experience in the Telecom Industry. Leading technical roles in Eastern Europe, Western Europe, Africa, South America and Caribbean. He also describes himself as an Executive Coach (AoEC) coaching Internally & Externally.

Thibaud has a Bachelor of Sciences Degree in Telecommunications Engineering with a specialization in Networks from the prestigious Telecom ParisTech (ENST) and has also attended Prytanée National Militaire Prepatory School in France.
