Nairobi County Government is staring a financial crisis and stands a chance to lose up to Sh100 million daily should there not be another service provider for the ICMS.

City Hall will have to pay Silas Njeru and Florence Gatari Njeru a sum total of Ksh 60m as compensation for their properties were demolished last year without notice.

The couple’s four-storey building in Kariobangi South was demolished in March 2018 to pave the way for the construction of a fire station.

The County Assembly Planning and Land Committee, which heard petition found that the couple had been allocated the plots regularly and put up the four-storey building with the approval of the City Hall and duly paid rates up to 2017.

Daily Nation reports that the couple was allocated two plots in January 7, 2002 under the KCC village formalization project.

The Njeru couple together with other victims had petitioned the county assembly on May 2, 2018, challenging the repossession of their plots by City Hall through Mowlem MCA Benson Mwangi.
