In Detail: The Finance Summit 2018
While each New Year comes with a great opportunity to stop, think, set new goals and plan ahead. There are as many opportunities, challenges and hurdles that one has to overcome. When the going gets tough in business, it’s usually finance-related, which provides some of the most painful ones entrepreneurs have to deal with.
The loss of a big client or a slowdown in the economy can drive your company out of business. Knowing how to face and overcome each financial challenge, streamlining the financial health and staying at the top of the game can help a business survive even in times of economic instability. The event, which will be hosted at the Kenya School of Government will seek to discuss and address the financial challenges faced by SMEs in their pursuit to scale and grow.
The Finance Summit – 9th October, 2018 at Laico Regency Hotel, Nairobi, will bring over 200 delegates comprising of top business executives and entrepreneurs; CEOs, CFOs, Finance Managers, Startup Founders and Finance Students to discuss current challenges and solutions in organizational finance.
The facilitators who include a very well vetted and experienced facilitators drawn from Industry specialists, business leaders and solution providers will share their insights, ideas and advice on the financial challenges that most often overwhelm entrepreneurs, finance managers and their teams.
The event day will be divided into two; a common 3-hour conference and three concurrent and independent plenary sessions where each participant will have to choose which to attend.

Solutions Spotlight: The conference is a three-hour presentation and panel based conversation that will discuss and address the financial challenges faced by SMEs in their pursuit to scale and grow. The major focus will be on building business credit.

- Forecasting and Planning
How does the management plan and determine numerical goals for the upcoming 12 months, 3 years, 5 years or more? This particular session is tailored to fine-tune your financial planning expertise to be able to create forecasts that are attainable yet aggressive; mapping out the actions to be taken, and the timeframe for the goals to be reached.
- Accounting and Measuring Results
Accounting goes beyond recording financial data and generating financial statements that show the company’s operating results. On this session, the Finance specialist will take the participants through Understanding the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, or GAAP.
The two-hour session will acquaint each participant with the knowledge that will help theirs organizations on strict compliance with the standards that allows company management to be assured the statements they receive are complete and accurate.
- Funding and Raising Capital
The need for capital in business never ends. Whether it is seed capital or series A, B, C, D, E etc, understanding how to find and shake the “money tree” is critical. And before you begin your search, there are a number of crucial aspects that one has to consider. What are they and how can one raise capital successfully? That is what this session is all about.
